Went to Seagull Park on the Long-awaited Cloudy Morning 8.7, 2025

It had been almost a month since Sachiki-san and I last visited Seagull Park.
In summer, the sun is so strong that even in the morning it gets hot when the sun is out, so we had been waiting for a cloudy morning. However, even though a cloudy morning came, there was a time we were unable to go, and a month passed.
Therefore, I wanted Sachiki-san to run around briskly, but He went at his own pace. (lol)

The caretaker carried a 2-litre water bottle and followed Sachiki-san as he marked his territory.

If the caretaker runs, maybe Sachiki-san will chase after and run too.

But since the caretaker is 61 years older than Sachiki-san, running with him ends in seconds. (lol)

Quietly Enjoyed the Cherry Blossoms at the Yakushi Park Cherry Blossom Festival 4.16, 2025

The famous cherry blossom spot in Kamaishi City is the Hongo Sakura Namiki in Toni-cho, where a feudal lord's procession marches under the rows of cherry blossoms in full bloom once every three years, but Yakushi Park, located on a hill in the center of the city, is also one of the famous cherry blossom spots. The Yakushi Park Cherry Blossom Festival is held during the cherry blossom season.
The cherry blossom information said that the cherry blossoms at Yakushi Park were in full bloom, so I and Sachiki-san went for a walk.
This is the first time I've visited this park since I was in high school. The caretaker went to high school in Kamaishi City from a neighboring town.

At the Yakushi Park Cherry Blossom Festival, there are no stalls or events, and only lanterns are set up, so you can quietly enjoy the cherry blossoms.

There is the "Statue of the Goddess of Peace" in the park, which comforts the souls of those who died in the Pacific War, but when we visited, it was under repainting work.
In the caretaker's memory, it was a Kannon statue, but it is a goddess statue!

The park is on high ground, so you will have to walk on stairs and steep slopes.

There is no car park at the park, so you will have to use a paid car park nearby.
Halfway up the slope there is a temple called Kannonji, but I'm not sure if you can enter the temple grounds with dogs.

Played with a Ball at Seagull Park 2.21, 2025

his dog park was originally attached to a hotel where you can stay with pets, but the hotel moved due to the aging of the building, so I was worried that it would be closed.
But there was no need to worry. Even after the hotel moved, it has been operating as usual.
Sachiki-san and I went to play for the first time in almost a month.

When we arrived, the only other guest was the black labrador retriever. After talking with the owner, we decided to play in separate areas.

The black labrador was playing with a ball happily. When there is no other dog in the same area, you can use toys.
The owner of the black labrador threw a ball to Sachiki-san over the fence.
The black labrador also had her own ball, but it seemed like she was more interested in the ball Sachiki-san was holding (lol)
Sachiki-san showed the ball to her and then brought it away.

We had fun playing with the ball.

The Swamp in Katagishi Park was Frozen and Swans were Walking on the Ice 12.15, 2024

Katagishi Park is not far from our house, so Sachiki-san and I often go there for walks.
The swamp froze over due to the recent cold wave.
Swans were walking on the ice of the frozen swamp from one unfrozen surface to another unfrozen surface.
Swans need a run-up to take off, so they look not good at flying short distances.
The roof visible across the swamp is the Kamaishi Unosumai Memorial Stadium.

It's like the "Dance of the Little Swans" from the ballet "Swan Lake."

Sachiki-san is full of energy even in the cold weather when the swamp is frozen.

Swans Came to the Swamp in Katagishi Park 11.14, 2024

Katagishi Park is a park that was developed after the Great East Japan Earthquake near the mouth of the Unosumai River, which flows through the Unosumai district of Kamaishi City. On the opposite side of the river is the Kamaishi Unosumai Memorial Stadium.
In the center of the park is a swamp called Minosuke-numa by locals, and a promenade has been developed around the swamp. There is also a car park and a toilet.
It's not far from our house, so I often take Sachiki-san here for walks.

When Sachiki-san and I moved to Kamaishi City in the fall and were walking in Katagishi Park, I heard from people who were also walking that swans fly to Minosuke-numa and the Unosumai River, but this was the first time we saw swans.

I thought, "The swans have come. Winter is coming," but Sachiki-san showed no interest in the swans and said, "Give me a treat." (lol)

Played with a Siberian Husky Girl at Seagull Park 8.17, 2024

This afternoon, the temperature was about 28°C, but there was no sunshine, so I thought, "This is a chance!" and went to Seagull Park, a dog park in the city, for the first time in a while.
A Siberian Husky girl was at the dog park.
It seems that owners of northern dogs think the same thing. (lol)

Since Sachiki-san became an adult, he has a hard time getting along with boys, perhaps because he thinks of them as rivals, but he can get along with girls. (lol)
This Siberian Husky girl was full of energy and kept coming at Sachiki-san, so Sachiki-san got thrown off balance. Sachiki-san got punched in the face (lol)

Digging up the sandy beach at Nebama-kaigan 7.5, 2024

Nebama-kaigan beach in Kamaishi City used to be a 2-kilometer-long sandy beach, including the adjacent Katagishi-kaigan beach across the Unosumai River, but both beaches were lost due to the tsunami and land subsidence caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Of these beaches, about 500 m of the Nebama-kaigan beach was restored, bringing back the white sands and green pines of the past.

Just before the swimming season, Sachiki-san and I went to the beach in the morning when no one was around.
It was the first time for Sachiki-san to walk on the beach.

Sachiki-san was digging up the sandy beach. This is not the only place.
It is a very clean beach that is maintained for swimming, but I was a little nervous as a caretaker in case something sharp was buried in the sand.

After digging up the sand, Sachiki-san voluntarily ran on the grassy square next to the beach to remove the sand from his feet.

There is a campground at Nehama-kaigan, so let's come back soon.

Petted by a Staff Member at Seagull Park 5.21, 2024

Near Kamaishi Daikannon, there is a hotel named Seagaria Marine where you can stay with your dog on a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This hotel has a large dog park named Seagull Park. I always thought, ''I'd like to stop by there.'' whenever I visit my mother, who lives on the coast of Iwate Prefecture.

Sachiki-san and I visited on a weekday evening. There was no one else using it, so we were able to use it without worrying about other dogs.

This is a large lawn dog park.
Even when Sachiki-san comes to the dog park, he's more interested in sniffing than running. (lol)

Sachiki-san sometimes picks up something and eat it, so I can safely watch him at a well-managed dog park.

A staff member came out of the office and patted Sachiki-san.

The fee is 600 yen per once. If you become a member by paying the annual membership fee of 1,000 yen, it is 500 yen per once.

Visited to Kamaishi Daikannon for New Year's Visit 1.19,2024

Sachiki-san and I visited to Kamaishi Daikannon for New Year's visit after Matsunouchi, the new year week, had passed, avoiding the crowds of New Year's visit.

We can bring our pets into the precinct of the temple, and as long as we hold them or keep them in cages, we can take the escalator beside the approach, enter the stupa, and the Kannon statue. We can't go into the store with our pets.

This Kannon statue is 48.5m tall and has an observatory on its chest, which corresponds to the 12th floor of a building, allowing we to view the scenery from a height of 120m above sea level.

I didn't have the confidence to walk in the building with Sachiki-san in my arms, let alone climb up to the 12th floor, so I didn't go inside the building or the Kannon statue, but I did take a walk with Sachiki-san along the approach and in the precinct, looked out at Kamaishi Bay.

This place is designated as a Lover's Sanctuary, so I prayed the Kannon-sama to help Sachiki-san and me stay together happily ever after.

The Kuzakai Highland was already Autumnal with the Ears of Silver Grasses Bearing 9.4, 2025

On my way from my home in Kamaishi City to Morioka City, Sachiki-san and I stopped off at the Kuzakai Highland Roadside Station. This area i...
